Stephen Wesley Hovious Son of William HOVIOUS and Sarah HARDING. Born in 1800, Kentucky. Married (1) 19 Aug 1824, in Lawrence Co., Indiana, Betsy Elizabeth HAMILTON, (Daughter of John and Nancy Hamilton). Stephen Hovious moved to Monroe Co., Indiana in 1826. Over the next quarter-century, Stephen bought from the US government several patches of land in Monroe County: first in March 1837 forty acres, then forty more in February 1849, 37 acres in July 1852, and an additional 37 acres in August 1853.
