Stephen Wesley Hovious Son of William HOVIOUS and Sarah HARDING. Born in 1800, Kentucky. Married (1) 19 Aug 1824, in Lawrence Co., Indiana, Betsy Elizabeth HAMILTON, (Daughter of John and Nancy Hamilton). Stephen Hovious moved to Monroe Co., Indiana in 1826. Over the next quarter-century, Stephen bought from the US government several patches of land in Monroe County: first in March 1837 forty acres, then forty more in February 1849, 37 acres in July 1852, and an additional 37 acres in August 1853. He also bought some land from one James Bean on 23 August, 1850; he appears to have ended up owning at least 200 acres of land. Children by Betsy Elizabeth HAMILTON:
Betsy died in 1845. He married (2) 17 Mar 1846, in Monroe Co., IN, Rachel HAMILTON BALES, (Daughter of John and Nancy Hamilton). They had no children. Stephen Wesley Hovious died in 1873.
