Parris Hovious. Son of Stephen Wesley HOVIOUS and Betsy HAMILTON. Born in Indiana, 6 June 1829. In 1850, Parris married Eliza Ann MAJORS [b.1835]. In 1860 he was farming. He later ran a ferry over the White River in Martinsville, IN. He moved to Mattoon, IL, in 1867.

    Parris Hovious died in 1868.

    Eliza was "for months near death's door" in 1869, but lived nearly 30 more years, till 14 June 1897.

    1. William C. Hovious, born 9 July 1856.
    2. Stephen DeVore Hovious, b. 1 Mar 1858, Morgan County, Indiana. Died 4 April 1926. Buried at Camp Ground Cemetery, Coles County, Illinois.
