Rachel Hovious Sullivan and Frank Sullivan, 1874Rachel Hovious. Daughter of Stephen Wesley HOVIOUS and Betsy HAMILTON. Born in Monroe County, Indiana, 8 Apr 1831. Married, on 18 Aug 1849, John Pennil SULLIVAN.

    From their descendant Julia Warner: "Rachel Hovious one of a set of twins. The other, a boy, did not survive. She married John P. Sullivan after his return from the Mexican War. He worked as a wagonmaker, then in 1853 they moved with their two oldest children to Clark Co., Iowa. They remained there until moving to Adair Co., Iowa in 1856. In 1876 the parents and six children drove their wagons to Nebraska, driving cattle with them. They crossed the Missouri in a boat. Four years later they loaded two wagons pulled by mules and a led horse and traveled to Kansas, Norton Co. In Iowa , Nebraska and Kansas. All of their children but one taught school at some time in their lives. Frank and Mac were also lawyers, Wes was a doctor, Parris had a Master's degree. Frank also wrote some books."

    Rachel Hovious Sullivan died on 29 Jan 1902.

    6. Stephen Wesley Sullivan, b. 4 Mar 1862. Married ---SUMMERS. Died 27 Dec 1938.
    7. Thomas McClellan Sullivan, b. 4 Apr 1865. Married Belle GEORGE. Died 4 Jan 1930.
    8. Mary Francis Sullivan, b. 31 Jan 1868. Married D.L. PORTER. Died 23 May 1918.
    9. Frank Seymour Sullivan, b. 18 May 1873. Married Myrtle WARD. Died 30 Jul 1953.
