John Richard HoviousJohn Richard Hovious Son of Perry Logan HOVIOUS and Annie Mai GOODFRED. Born in Nashville, TN, on 15 July 1905. Married, on 13 June 1927, in Nashville, Mary Ethel MOORE [7 Oct.1903 - 4 Mar. 1983]. He was a preacher in the Church of Christ and at the time of his death at age 34 was the principal of Antioch High School in Davidson Co., TN. He and Mary received Master's degrees from Peabody College. While swimming in Chickamauga Lake in Chattanooga, he took a cramp and drowned. Mary began teaching school then and taught art at Central High School in Nashville until she retired in 1969. They are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville.

    John Richard Hovious died on 20 June 1940.
