Silas Hovious. Son of James H. HOVIOUS and Amanda NICHOLS. Born in San Mateo Co., California, abt 1863. Married, on 8 Feb 1884, Catherine "Kate" BURKE.

    Silas Hovious died in 1897. In 1900, his widow Kate owned a newsstand in San Mateo, Ca.

    Children:

    1. Edward James Hovious, born 20 Feb 1885. Died 21 Nov 1964. Married Caroline A. RAAEN.
    2. John Hovious, born Sep 1888
    3. Mabel Hovious, born Sep 1891.


      4. In 1881, Silas Hovious received a citation for having helped save the lives of 4 mariners from the wrecked ship "Alice Buck" near Half Moon Bay.
