Robert M. Hovious. Son of John Harding HOVIOUS and Eliza LITTEN. Born on 20 May 1831, Bedford, In. He married (1) on 26 Jun 1853, in Morgan Co., IN, Margaret PARKER. On 23 Feb 1864, Robert enlisted in the US Army at Indianapolis and was mustered into duty as a Private in Company I, 125th - 10th Cavalry Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers the following March 2nd. On 1 July 1864 Robert was promoted to Corporal. After the Civil War was over, Robert was discharged at Vicksburg, Mississippi, on 31 August 1865. He farmed in Monroe Co., apparently on his father's old farm, and cared for his mother. After returning home, he married on 2 Jan 1866 Mary A. MAXWELL. Robert M. Hovious died on 20 Oct 1879. He is buried next to his father and other family.
