Johannes Theodor Hofius. Son of Johannes HOFIUS and Sibylle Antoinette BERCK born 31 July 1730, Iserlohn, Westphalia, Germany. His godparents were Iserlohn's Mayor, Johann Hermann Hatzfeld; Johannes Brüninghaus; his grandfather, Theodor Heinrich Berck; and the mayor's wife.

    Following the death of his father in 1754, Johannes moved about 5 miles away to Hohenlimburg. Johannes married (1)on 2 February 1755, Phillipine Helene LANDMANN. She was born in Hohenlimburg. [Phillipine died on 15 October 1794 at Dhünn, where her son was a Minister]. Johannes was a merchant in Hohenlimburg, where he lived. During the Seven Years' War, his home was looted by the Prussian Army. He emigrated to Pennsylvania in October 1765, on board the ship "Countess of Sussex" which sailed from Rotterdam.

    Johan Theodor Hofius died in 1808 at Hickory Corners, near Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA.
