George T. Hovious. Son of Dr. Rezon D. HOVIOUS and Maggie WATSON. Born in Knifley, KY on 10 June 1892.

An examination of census and marriage records for George indicate that he eloped with his girlfriend and married her while they were both still underage. By 1910, George's sister Polona Callaway and her husband had moved to Tallula in Menard County, Illinois. It seems George and their mother joined Polona shortly afterwards. On 23 May 1912, in Knox County, Indiana, George married Alma MINOR, a daughter of William and Harriet Minor, also of Tallula. George and his bride gave their ages as 23 and 22. In fact, they were 19 and 17.

The 1920 census shows that they were living in Tallula, under their real ages, where George was farming. It seems they had no children.

George T. Hovious died in Springfield, Illinois, on 31 July 1948.

Information from the 1910 and 1920 census for Menard County, IL, and George's marriage license and death certificate. Research continues.
