Abner Bottoms. Born in Virginia, 1780. Married, on 10 Mar 1810 in Green Co., KY, Betsy CHANDLER [1787-1851?]. Abner Bottoms was probably the oldest man in Knifley, KY at the time of his death; he lived at least till 1870, when he was 90 years old. He was a farmer. In 1820 he still lived in Green Co. where he already had six children and owned 11 slaves. By 1850 and thereafter he and most of his children lived in Adair Co.

    Children:

    1. John Chandler Bottoms*, born abt 1815.
    2. Micajah F. Bottoms, born abt 1818.
    3. William Durham Bottoms, born 26 Dec 1825, died 13 Mar 1912.
    4. James M. Bottoms, born abt 1827.
    5. Josiah T. Bottoms, born abt 1829

(* There were certainly more children than those shown here, but research is as yet incomplete on just how many. John C. Bottoms has not yet been proven a son of Abner's, but I feel the name Chandler and the fact that Abner had 4 sons born between 1810-20 makes him a likely son.)

Thanks to Elaine Evans for contributing some Bottoms data; additional information from census and marriage records.
